Juli Elin Toro’s exhibition ‘Nursing Trees’ @ Plus+

Juli Elin Toro received a BFA from the University of Florida in 2008. Her recent work deals with nurturing, mothering, and intensively caring for objects. The project “Nursing Trees” is an attempt at repairing one of many trees that were damaged by a tornado on her family’s property. The ripped off branches are obsessively bandaged, and the trunk torn in half by the wind is stitched back together in a futile healing effort

'Frames of Reference' by Daniela Ettedgui

"My work draws a connection between natural structures and designed structures, as well as explores the relationship between color and geometry. I am heavily influenced by modernist architecture and design, as well as by latin american color theorists and color kinetic sculptors. My interest in formal sculptural installations lies in the invitation to the viewer/participant to investigate the relative appearance of color and depth based on variables such as light, surface, and material. My work reveals itself over time and through explorative perception. " -Daniela Ettedgui
